Welcome to My World

New Painting

“Evolving Love” (2022)

‘Evolving Love’ is a visualization I had whilst sitting on a bench on Redcliffe’s esplanade.  As I cast my eyes towards the moon, as it rose slowly over the distance Woody Point jetty, I envisioned sitting there with my wife.  As we both reflected on our lives, past, present and future, we felt an overwhelming feeling of peace between us and the future.  Happy and peaceful as we watched young families strolling together on the meandering path, enjoying each other’s company and proud of the new life they created together.

Angels in the Park” (2022)

90 x 60 cm – Acrylic on canvas

‘Angels in the Park’ was derived from the view I have of the park, surrounding the #Biloela Civic Centre, from the front of my residence.  The gardens have clusters of native trees that a variety of birds congregate all day in. But the glorious large rocks, scattered throughout the gardens, capture my attention everytime I lookout.  Each time I look at the park and the boulders, I imagine seeing Angels resting on the rocks and chatting with each other.  Knowing I have the angels nearby, watching over us, gives me peace and calmness.

Contemplating” (2022)

70 x 50 cm – Acrylic on canvas

‘Contemplating’ was created to express how I was feeling at the end of 2021. I had to make a choice, stay in the city or move to the country. I contemplated this decision heavily, as moving to the country meant a change in lifestyle. As I was contemplating my decision, I had this feeling that I would not be alone and I would be protected and supported in my decision by my guardian angel.

Angel Warriors” (2021)

90 x 60 cm – Acrylic on canvas

Painting ‘Angel Warriors’ was my way of visualizing my escape from the darkness of my mind.  At the time I was in a dark place, completely surrounded by darkness.  There was no light entering my space. I felt alone and unwanted. I felt trapped in a well and I couldn’t climb out. I prayed to God to help me out of this darkness.

I then envisaged God sending ‘Angel Warriors’ to break down the walls of darkness entrapping me. As they broke through the walls my mind began filling up with light again and with it hope.

In this painting I have attempted to create a 3D effect showing the ‘Angel Warriors’ breaking through the wall.

Waterfall at Springbrook” (2021)

50 x 40 cm – Acrylic on canvas

‘Waterfall at Springbrook’ was my first attempt at landscape painting.  I have always enjoyed looking at waterfalls and seeing how the water traverses through the landscape, finding its own path to the bottom of the mountains. Sometimes the noise of the water crashing over rocks can be so loud you can’t think and other times it is so soft, gentle and relaxing.

Breakfast in Paris” (2021)

50 x 40 cm – Acrylic on canvas

‘Breakfast in Paris’ is my attempt at impressionist style painting. When I was living in Brisbane, I would go up to the local coffee shop, Le Bon Choix, and there were all these amazing pastries on display.  I had a liking for their blueberry Danishes.  As I ate my Danish, I would imagine I was in Paris, the city of love, enjoying a French breakfast of pastries, orange juice and coffee whilst admiring the view of the Eiffel Tower in the background.

Mansion at Sunrise” (2021)

90 x 60 cm – Acrylic on canvas

‘Mansion at Sunrise’ is a painting of my dream house and dream location.  I dream of living in a mansion, with a lap pool that has a waterfall flowing into it, a sunken lounge firepit, and area to dance whilst overlooking nearby islands, where the sunrises from.  A place where family and friends come to relax and enjoy themselves.

Mooonlight Comfort” (2021)

90 x 60 cm – Acrylic on canvas

‘Moonlight Comfort’ painting expresses love through protection and comfort in each other’s arms. The full moon carries so much mystery about it.  People’s emotions are heightened. They can go from being happy, amorous, to sadness and anger. In some cases, the effects of a full moon on people’s emotional state can be overwhelming.

In addition, the full moon has an effect on our ocean and tides.  During the full moon the tide of the ocean rises, just like our emotions.

In my painting ‘Moonlight Comfort’ I show a man protecting and comforting his lover from ocean waters (emotions) rising up and crashing into them.  His comfort and protection provide a safe haven for his lover as she rides the tides of emotions during the full moon.

Mystical Fairy” (2021)

90 x 60 cm – Acrylic on canvas

‘Mystical Fairy’ was a painting I did on behalf of a customer.  The customer expressed how her grandchildren saw her as a fairy.  She has fairies all through her garden, which the grandchildren love to play with everytime they come over to visit.  In addition, the customer has a business where she helps them on their journey to empowerment and self-belief.

When I painted the image, I wanted to choose colors that show her aura.  I chose a blue/purple dress as a symbol of spirituality, peace, calmness, serenity and tranquility.I chose a light yellow as it symbolizes someone who is optimistic and happy.  As the customer is very spiritual, I want to include all four elements of nature – Earth (forest), Air (fairy wings), Fire (fireflies), and Water (stream).

Final Battle” (2020)

90 x 120 cm – Acrylic on canvas

‘Final Battle’ was the beginning of my art journey and first ever attempt at painting.  I wanted to have a go at painting something that I could admire everytime I looked at it.  The painting had to have meaning.

I had always admired cobra snakes and their ability to flan out their head to make them seem larger to their opponent. I admired how they would sway back and forth to mesmerize their attacker, bewitching them with eye patterns on their skin.  I was enthralled in the quickness of their strike. However, the cobra had a formidable opponent in the mongoose.  They are wirily, fast and ferocious.

In this painting I wanted to capture them in a fight where neither was giving in, where both were ready to strike.  The painting illustrates that during the ferocity of the battle, both opponents become unaware of their surroundings as they move closer to the cliff edge.

Ultimately neither animal will not win this battle as they are both certain to fall to their deaths.

Cheeky Beauty” (2020)

50 x 60 cm – Acrylic on canvas

‘Cheeky Beauty’ is an abstract art portrait painting I did of a very cheeky buxom beauty I got to know.  She is very proud of her assets and gains empowerment through self-expression by displaying her assets with a cheeky grin on her face.

Pleasures” (2021)

45 x 60 cm – Acrylic on canvas

‘Pleasures’, the 2nd painting in my art journey.  ‘Pleasures’ allowed me to delve into my erotic mind and attempt at painting the human form.  ‘Pleasures’ explores my version of sin in its ultimate form. The purity of an angel, and one of God’s disciples, seeking sexual pleasure from Satan, God’s opposite.

‘Pleasures’ also explores the definition of control.  The angel is on top and in a commanding position, and can leave at anytime.  However, Satan, the provider of pleasure and temptation, is using his skills to persuade the angel into succumbing to her desires, whilst she still thinks she is still in control.

Watcher” (2021)

29 x 39 cm – Acrylic on canvas

Arise” (2021)

45 x 60 cm – Acrylic on canvas

The Angel Rises,
free from her chains,
 free from her demons,
free from her past.

As she rises,
the sun shines brighter,
on her soul,
on her beauty.

She is not afraid,
of who she is,
 or where she is going,
she is FREE.

Reflection” (2021)

45 x 34 cm – Acrylic on canvas

Her light becomes brighter,
Her darkness fading,
she sees her reflection,
she sees her WORTH.

She is worthy of LOVE,
She has so much to still give,
And be GIVEN.

Unwanted” (2021)

29 x 39 cm – Acrylic on canvas

In her darkness,
Alone;
Unwanted;
Unloved;
She has lost hope.

She gave everything,
Her heart;
Her soul;
Her love;
Now she is BROKEN.
