Who is baxy71art
Hi and welcome to my art journey. I am Simon LJ Baxter, an emerging Australian acrylic artist, located in Biloela, Queensland. I am originally from a small western Queensland town called Aramac.
After finishing boarding school, I began a 15-year career in the Insurance Industry. At 32, I began a 20-year career in the transport industry.
My main interest outside of work was not art, it was sport. Cricket and golf were my main sports, where I gained some lifetime friends.
My art journey
In 2020, I became inspired to paint my own artwork. I had dabbled in drawing as a child but nothing serious.
I had no real knowledge of how colours interact with each other; or how they change an image’s depth and perception.
With a thirst for knowledge, I began watching art tutorials on YouTube and following many artists on social media.
After the first painting, I was eager to have a go at anything. I would wake up all the time with these different thoughts and images. The funny thing is that many of these images were trying to convey a message and I was prepared to have a go at painting it.
Painting and art has allowed me to escape and has allowed me to express my thoughts and emotions on canvas.

EXPRESSING MY THOUGHTS
When I first began painting, I only wanted to have a go at painting. However, the more I progressed with my first painting, I started to become more emersed in it. I was fascinated how different colors changed a viewer’s perspective.
